Weld Engineer
About the Job
Gentis Solutions is looking for a Weld Engineer to join our client's team. Client-specific benefits are available and will be discussed in detail during your interview.
Compensation for this position ranges from 95k/year - 120k/year per year, based on experience. Payment is bi-weekly and is based on all hours worked, without eligibility for overtime.
This position requires the individual to be located in the Cheswick, PA area.
Requirements

U.S. Citizenship (due to DoD requirements)

Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearances and approvals
-
Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, Metallurgy, or Materials Science (from an accredited institution)

6+ years of relevant experience

Strong knowledge of arc welding processes: FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW, SMAW, and PTAW
-
Experience with at least one major welding code (e.g., ASME Section III & IX, AWS, NAVSEA)

Familiarity with a range of materials: carbon steel, low/high alloy steels, stainless steels, nickel and copper-based alloys, and dissimilar metal welding

Prior hands-on experience as a welding, materials, or manufacturing engineer

Ability to interpret material specifications and produce x-ray quality structural and seal welds

Solid understanding of welding metallurgy

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage risk in complex projects

Team-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction Nice to Have

Master’s degree (M.S.) in a relevant discipline

Familiarity with supplier qualification processes and audits

Experience supporting engineering/manufacturing meetings and cross-functional teams

Background in developing and managing work plans, including schedules, budgets, and resources

Mentorship experience with junior engineers or technicians

Experience working in environments involving non-traditional manufacturing and repair

Ability to support and execute procedure/personnel qualifications per welding codes and contracts

Experience identifying new welding techniques/process improvements

Familiarity with technical support for both internal teams and external customers
