About the Job

Gentis Solutions is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team. This role is part of our Professional Consultants group, working directly with clients to accomplish their goals. Consulting engagements typically last an average of 12 months but often extend in duration.

Compensation for this position ranges from 114k/year - 150k/year per year, based on experience. Payment is bi-weekly and is based on all hours worked, without eligibility for overtime.

This position requires the individual to be located in the Blue Ash, OH area.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles, delivering cloud-based data solutions
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Azure Databricks and Azure Synapse
  • Proven experience with Spark-based data processing and performance tuning
  • Advanced SQL skills for data transformation and optimization
  • Proficiency in modern data architectures, including Lakehouse, ELT/ETL pipelines, and real-time data processing
  • Experience modeling and managing large-scale behavioral and eCommerce datasets
  • Strong understanding of BI best practices and data enablement for self-service analytics
  • Hands-on experience with Unity Catalog and data cataloging tools such as Alation for governance and metadata management
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value
  • Experience working in agile delivery environments, balancing scalability, speed, and quality
  • Demonstrated leadership experience as a technical lead

Nice to Have

  • Engineering certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional
  • Familiarity with behavioral analytics platforms such as Adobe Analytics or Adobe Customer Journey Analytics
  • Exposure to enterprise data governance and architecture design standards
