CNC Machinist
About the Job
Gentis Solutions is looking for a CNC Machinist to join our team. This role is part of our Professional Consultants group, working directly with clients to accomplish their goals. Consulting engagements typically last an average of 12 months but often extend in duration.
Compensation for this position ranges from 54k/year - 64k/year per year, based on experience. Payment is bi-weekly and is based on all hours worked, without eligibility for overtime.
This position requires the individual to be located in the Cincinnati, OH area.
CNC Machinist – off Shift (Lathes/Mills)
Key Responsibilities
• Set up and operate CNC lathes with minimal supervision (Femco, Haas, Okuma, Doosan, VTL, manual) • Perform tool changes, offsets, and minor edits directly at the machine
• Troubleshoot machining issues, make decisions independently, and maintain part quality
• Perform 100%-dimensional inspection using tools such as: o Micrometers o Height stands o Calipers o Bore mics o Dial indicators
• Read and interpret complex aerospace blueprints and part drawings
• Ensure parts are produced to tight tolerances and customer requirements
• Support and mentor other team members when needed
• Meet daily and weekly production targets without sacrificing quality
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Required Qualifications
• High School degree or equivalent is required
• Minimum 5 years CNC lathe experience
• Proficient with setups, tooling, and on-machine edits without step-by-step instruction
• Strong inspection skills with manual measuring tools
• Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and resolve machining issues
• Comfortable working premium shifts (2nd and 3rd – see section below)
• Strong communication and leadership skills; able to assist and guide others
Preferred (Not Required) Skills
• Background in aerospace is a plus
• Machinist certification (e.g., NIMS or equivalent)
• CNC programming experience (G-code, conversational, or CAM-based)
• CNC milling machine experience (Doosan, Haas, Makino)
• Wire EDM knowledge or experience (Makino) Currently interviewing for off-shifts to support our growth:
• 2nd shift (Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM to 1:30 AM) Can flex hours if need be.
• 3rd shift (Monday–Thursday, 8:00 PM to 6:30 AM)
• We are also flexible on moving to a 10/10 schedule for first shift / second shift to allow candidates to set their own schedule to support our increase in business.
Prefer 2nd but if hours dont work, we can flex those to a schedule that does.
